A major conference that will bring together leading experts, researchers and practitioners in the field of mental health and well-being will be held at the Gulf Convention Centre in Manama from October 9 to 10.
The third Bahrain Psychiatry Conference is being organised by Government Hospitals, in co-ordination with Education Plus, under the theme ‘Integrating Mind and Body: Exploring the Dynamic Interplay for Holistic Health’.
It will be held in the presence of Supreme Council for Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
Experts will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and insights on the latest developments and best practices in the field.
Conference president and consultant psychiatrist Dr Shaima Bucheery said the forum promises to be an exceptional event with a wide range of topics to be covered.
“Speakers will discuss the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment and research in the field of psychiatry and psychological interventions,” she said.
“This conference is a must-attend event for everyone working in the field of mental health.
“Participants will have the opportunity to engage with peers, network with like-minded professionals and learn from some of the most respected voices in the field of psychiatry.”
Interested researchers can submit a wide span of topics related to the integration of mental and physical health.

The event encourages a multidisciplinary exploration of how psychological, neurological, and physiological processes interact, influence and enhance each other.
It also encourages discussions on the latest research, therapies and strategies that consider both mental and physical well-being and emphasises the importance of treating the mind and body as interconnected components of health.
While the agenda has not yet been finalised, topics expected to be covered include nutrition, physical activity, epilepsy, women’s mental health, obesity, immunity and oncology.
There will also be discussions on psychopathology in old age, mind-body interventions and therapies, psychological aspects of physical illnesses, advances in psychosomatic medicine and innovative technologies in mind-body medicine.
Speakers lined up so far include women’s health nurse practitioner Dr Jameela Mukhaimer, psychotherapist Dr Asma Maher and consultant psychiatrist Dr Waiel Alani.
Those who are interested in speaking or presenting a topic are being encouraged to do so online by submitting an abstract.
The submissions must be in English as either an oral presentation or poster, and should not have been presented in previous conferences.
It must not be more than 250 to 300 words, excluding the title and author’s information, should include background, objectives, methods, results and conclusion.
Participants can start submitting their abstracts and the deadline for submissions is August 31. If approved, contributors will receive their notification of acceptance on September 7.
They will have to submit their full name, nationality, educational qualifications, profession, organisation name, email, phone number and upload a personal photo of themselves.
