CRICKET – BAHRAIN Cricket Federation (BCF) advisory board chairman Mohammad Mansoor has been elected to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) executive board for 2026, the BCF has announced.
This marks a significant milestone for Bahrain cricket and it strengthens the kingdom’s representation in continental sports administration.
The election took place during the ACC annual general meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, attended by representatives from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, the GCC countries, and other ACC member nations.
The meeting was chaired by ACC president Mohsin Naqvi, with senior cricket leaders and ACC member boards representatives in attendance.
The other elected executive board members are Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Thani, Mahmood Ghaznavi, Mohamed Faizal, and Khalid Zarooni, who will serve as vice-chairman.
Mansoor’s election reflects Bahrain’s growing role in regional and continental cricket alongside BCF’s continued efforts to strengthen international cooperation and create greater opportunities for the development of the game.
“I am deeply honoured to have been elected to the ACC executive board,” Mansoor said. “I consider this a responsibility to represent not only Bahrain cricket, but also to contribute positively to the development of cricket across Asia, particularly by strengthening opportunities for associate members.”
Mansoor expressed his profound gratitude to Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his vision and continued support for sport and cricket in the kingdom.
He also thanked International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah for his encouragement of cricket development in Bahrain, highlighting his visit to the kingdom, the decision to hold an ACC board meeting in Bahrain, and his meeting with Shaikh Khalid as important steps in strengthening Bahrain’s relationship with the cricket community worldwide.
In his new role, Mansoor will work to support greater collaboration among ACC members and strengthen opportunities for associate members across infrastructure, player and coach development, officials, grassroots programmes, and international competition pathways.
“Asian cricket has enormous potential,” Mansoor said. “I look forward to working closely with Mohsin Naqvi and my fellow executive board members to strengthen cooperation among all ACC members.
“I will particularly endeavour to ensure that the aspirations and development requirements of associate members have a strong voice within the council.”
Mansoor’s appointment further strengthens Bahrain’s presence in continental and international cricket administration and provides BCF with an important platform to build partnerships, exchange technical expertise, and create further opportunities for players and officials.
