THE inaugural Hamad Town Charity Stationery Exhibition was held at Ahmed Ali Kanoo Hall to showcase school products and supplies ahead of the new academic year starting next week.
Northern Deputy Governor Brigadier Abdullah Mantar inaugurated the event, organised by the Hamad Town Co-operative Consumer Society.
Present were members of the society’s board of directors.
The two-day event also featured a children’s corner with recreational games, competitions and prizes.
Brig Mantar congratulated the students and their parents on the new school year, and praised the society’s initiative in organising the exhibition, which was aimed at supporting families and alleviating their cost of living burden.
The society said that its initiative will serve as a launch-pad for future charitable and social activities to benefit the people of Hamad Town and enhance the spirit of co-operation among community members.
Meanwhile, the GDN previously reported that thousands of primary, intermediate and secondary students in government schools will return to their classes on Wednesday, as the 2025-2026 academic year starts.
Ahead of the new session, the Education Ministry has completed reviewing facilities at educational institutions including maintenance work and installing energy-efficient air conditioners in classrooms.
A total of 5,000 new air conditioning units were installed in schools across the country, while a fleet of buses including new vehicles were ready to transport hundreds of students.
Buses have also been allocated by the ministry for special needs students.
Recently, around 100 backpacks were donated to the A’ali Social Charity Society as part of a back-to-school initiative.
