A total of 392 illegal fishing traps (garqoor) and 41 banned fishing nets were seized by the Coastguard last month, the Interior Ministry said.
Legal measures have been taken in response to the violations, said a statement yesterday. “Intensified inspection campaigns will continue to limit illegal fishing activities,” it added. “The campaigns aim to ensure fishermen’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations to preserve Bahrain’s marine environment and resources”.
