A SPECTACULAR celebration of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is set to take place this weekend in Bahrain.
Organised by the Bahrain India Cultural and Arts Services (Bicas), the festivities will take place on October 10 at the Golden Eagle Club in Salmabad.
The announcement was made during a Press conference attended by Bicas president Bhagwan Asarpota and committee members.
The organisers said the festival aims to bring communities together through art, music and shared tradition, capturing the essence of Diwali – the triumph of light over darkness.
According to a Bicas spokesperson, the celebrations promise ‘a fusion of tradition, creativity and high-energy revelry’ for the Indian community and their friends across the island.
The morning will kick off with a Rangoli competition from 9am to noon, inviting participants to display traditional floor art symbolising prosperity and good fortune.
The intricate designs, made with coloured powders, mark one of the most cherished customs of Diwali.
In the evening, from 5pm to 10pm, there will be a series of Indian performances, showcasing diverse art forms.
The celebrations will conclude with a high-energy Dandiya Night, led by renowned DJ Nirmal, where attendees can dance to folk rhythms and contemporary music in true festive spirit.
The celebrations are being organised in association with Convex Media, whose media director Ajith Nair was present at the Press conference.
Indian Ambassador Vinod K Jacob will inaugurate the event, and highlight the enduring friendship between India and Bahrain.
