Golf – THREE of Bahrain’s best young golfers are set to compete amongst a talented field in the boys’ and girls’ golf competitions of the third Asian Youth Games.
The 54-hole tournaments will be taking place from tomorrow to Saturday at the Royal Golf Club.
Flying the kingdom’s flag are Khalid Mohamed Seddeeq, Yaqoob Yousif Majid, and Abdulrahman Mehaizea. They will be looking to bag medals in the boys’ individual and teams’ categories.
Prior to tomorrow’s start of play, an official practice round will take place today. A total of 25 national teams are taking part in the championships, including 17 boys’ teams and 10 girls’ teams, with a total of 85 players.
Bahrain’s participation reflects the development of the game on the island and the national teams’ growing presence on both the regional and continental levels.
This hosting marks a new national achievement for the Royal Golf Club and Bahraini sport. It further strengthens Bahrain’s status as a leading sporting destination in the region and a prominent hub for hosting international events.
Royal Golf Club chairman Captain Waleed Al Alawi expressed his pride in the club being selected as the official venue for the golf competitions of the third Asian Youth Games. He emphasised that this choice reflects the high level of trust in the club’s advanced infrastructure and its professional standards in organising major tournaments.
Captain Al Alawi added that the club’s courses and facilities have been prepared according to the highest international standards, ensuring an exceptional experience for athletes and participants in a manner befitting Bahrain’s reputation and outstanding organisational capabilities. He highlighted that the Royal Golf Club will exert every effort to ensure the success of this major continental event, in cooperation with the organising committee and relevant authorities.
