Bahrain’s premier security summit opens today as world leaders, military chiefs and intelligence officers gather in the kingdom to discuss a wide range of regional and international issues.
The 21st edition of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Regional Security Summit: The Manama Dialogue 2025 will continue until Sunday at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Regional Power and Statecraft Amidst Global Change’.
The annual summit provides a platform for experts, decision-makers and government delegations to exchange views on regional security challenges. Among the speakers expected at the three-day forum are Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani, Syrian Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Dr Asaad Al Shaibani, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Ayman Safadi, Palestinian Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Minister Dr Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, German Foreign Federal Minister Dr Johann Wadephul and UAE Diplomatic Adviser to the President Dr Anwar Gargash.
The summit will also feature a Young Leaders Programme that aims to provide young people with a forum at which they can air policy suggestions to address regional challenges. Checkpoints are expected near the hotel in Seef District and adjoining areas ahead of the summit’s opening.
