BAHRAIN should host more regional, continental and international sporting events, said a Shura Council member yesterday.
Youth and sport committee chairman Redha Monfaradi praised Bahrain’s proven capability in managing world-class sporting occasions, highlighting the successful organisation of the third Asian Youth Games in the kingdom.
“After the original host withdrew, Bahrain stepped in just eight months before the due date – and the outcome was wondrous,” he said, during the chamber’s weekly session.
“We demonstrated that we can host much more, and we are already doing an outstanding job with the Formula One Grand Prix.”
He added that the successful staging of international events enhances Bahrain’s global reputation and creates valuable opportunities for youth participation, tourism growth and economic activity.
“Our experience shows that Bahrain has the infrastructure, expertise and hospitality to host any event of global standard,” said Mr Monfaradi.
“We must build on this momentum to attract more tournaments and championships.”

Mr Al Saleh
Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh echoed the sentiment, affirming that the council fully supported efforts to position Bahrain as a leading sporting destination.
“Everyone agrees with this vision,” he said.
“The kingdom has consistently shown that it can host major events with professionalism and pride, bringing people together and showcasing Bahrain’s achievements to the world.”
