Around 500 workers took part in an annual summer awareness campaign organised by the Indian Community Welfare Association (ICWA).
The campaign, Thirst Quenchers 2026, aligns with the Labour Ministry’s initiative to ensure a safe working environment during the summer months. Outdoor work is banned from noon to 4pm until the end of August.
Association members held the event at the Cebarco worksite in Zallaq, in the presence of Labour Ministry’s senior occupational safety engineer Hussain Al Hussaini and Partnership and Outreach director at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Fahad Binali.
ICWA adviser Dr Babu Ramachandran addressed the gathering, highlighting the health and safety precautions workers should observe during the summer.
This year’s campaign is supported by the ministry, LMRA and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
Launched in 2016, the Thirst Quenchers Summer Awareness Campaign is now in its 11th consecutive year.
