Umbrella exchanges on robot elephants is the name of the game as Dubai looks to gear up to celebrate one of Kerala's biggest cultural celebrations.
Titled "Mmde (Our) Thrissur Pooram", the event is set to be a live replica of the world-famous Thrissur Pooram festival, a UNESCO-recognised cultural carnival that takes place in the city of Thrissur, Kerala.
Dubai's version of the festival, set to take place between November 15th and 16th, will showcase a grand display of pyrotechnics around the famous Dubai Frame before bringing a musical ensemble of 150 instrumental musicians.
"The event will feature six real-sized robotic elephants against the backdrop of massive cutouts as large as 35x50 feet, and authentic cultural displays," says Bindu Nair, managing director of Synerggy Events, a co-organiser of the massive event.
The events will also attempt to authentically replicate Thrissur Pooram's cultural highlights by bringing percussion veterans performing for the first time outside of India.
Women attendees to the event are being offered a 50 per cent discount on tickets, currently available on online platforms.
