Scores of parishioners attended a mass commemorating the official designation of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church as a shrine. The event coincided with the church’s sapphire jubilee celebration. The service in the ‘Mother Church’ in Manama was presided over by the Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia Bishop Aldo Berardi. Parish priest Father Francis Joseph was appointed as the first rector of the shrine – the Vicariate of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A cultural programme will be held on November 27.
