The stage is set for the 2025 running of the kingdom’s most valuable horserace, as the starting gate positions were determined this evening for Friday’s $1million Bahrain International Trophy.
The official post-position draw for the highly anticipated Group Two event took place tonight at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was in attendance, as was legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who is the co-owner of the winner of the race’s previous two editions, Spirit Dancer.
The draw results, from gates one to eight, respectively, were: 1 Lion’s Pride, 2 Military Order, 3 Royal Champion, 4 Bright Picture, 5 Galen, 6 Pride of Arras, 7 Persica, 8 Calif.
Friday’s Bahrain International Trophy will be run over 2,000m, and it will be held under floodlights, scheduled for a 7.40pm start.
