Visitors to the Bahrain National Museum will be able to get a virtual experience of riding the upcoming railway connecting the GCC, at a special pavilion set up to mark the kingdom hosting the 46th GCC Summit on December 3.
Present at the inauguration ceremony yesterday was GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al Budaiwi, alongside top Bahraini officials including Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani and Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi.
The pavilion highlights the formation of the GCC in 1981, its achievements and projects and leaders over the years.

Attendees at the event
“This pavilion is a summary of everything the GCC has achieved since 1981,” said Mr Al Budaiwi.
“Visitors can learn about the formation of the council and the work the nations have been doing since then to build the region.
“They can also learn how the nations have been working together for almost 44 years in different sectors, including trade, economy, transportation, defence, education and more.”

Officials touring the pavilion
Exhibits reflecting the GCC’s shared past, present and future are now on display, including stories and information about the council’s establishment, economic agreements, the common market, customs union, economic unity of the region and more.
There is also an exhibit on future projects such as the GCC Railway Project, which is expected to be over 2,000km long, and will run through Kuwait (145km), Saudi Arabia (663km), Bahrain (36km), Qatar (283km), the UAE (683km) and Oman (306km).
Visitors can also use the virtual reality (VR) headsets provided to get an idea of what train travel in the region would look like.
Mr Al Budaiwi said the summit would discuss topics concerning the citizens of the region as a whole, and how to enhance their lives.
