Bahrain marked 35 years of diplomatic relations with Russia through a year-long cultural programme, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca).
The initiative, titled Russian Seasons 2025, featured a rich array of artistic events, musical performances and cultural activities that highlighted Moscow’s vibrant heritage.
The Bahrain National Theatre served as the main stage, hosting world-class performers including the Vaganova Ballet Academy, which presented excerpts from the beloved classics The Fairy Doll and The Nutcracker, last week.
Music lovers were treated to a memorable concert by the Ossipov National Academic Folk Instruments Orchestra of Russia, conducted by Professor Vladimir Andropov, last Friday, with a unique Bahraini touch added by the Ismaeel Dawas Band.
Earlier in February, the theatre welcomed the acclaimed dance ensemble of Dagestan, Lezginka, and in January, audiences experienced the grandeur of the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Valery Gergiev.
Film enthusiasts enjoyed the Russian Film Festival at Marassi Galleria in September, while Magic of Animation showcased Russia’s animation talents in February.
The fourth edition ‘Inspired by Literature’, organised by the Art Centre took place earlier this month in collaboration with We All Read, drawing inspiration from the works of Russian author Nikolai Gogol.
These events were made possible through a cultural co-operation agreement signed last year between Baca and the Russian Culture Ministry during His Majesty King Hamad’s visit to Russia.
The celebrations will conclude with a Russian language workshop at the Qal’at Al Bahrain Site Museum from December 13 to 17, offering participants a chance to explore the language and deepen cultural understanding.
