CRICKET – Shaheen Group cruised to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Sky Kings in the KHK League 2025-A Division T20 Series Two match.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Sky Kings found themselves consistently shackled by a sharp Shaheen bowling attack.
Despite a late flourish, they could only post a modest total of 141 for seven in their 20 overs.
The innings never quite found its rhythm. Opener Zeeshan Raza (13 off eight balls) started brightly, but regular wickets pegged the batting side back.
Captain M Safdar top-scored with a patient 25, while Luqman Khan contributed 22.
However, the innings was truly given a semblance of respectability by a blistering cameo from Muhammad Zubair, who smashed 39 runs from just 20 deliveries, including two fours and four sixes, propelling the score past the 140-run mark.
The star with the ball for Shaheen was Asif Nana. His clever spell of four overs yielded three crucial wickets for just 23 runs, effectively breaking the backbone of the Sky Kings’ middle order.
Prashant Kurup was equally economical, conceding only 16 runs from his four overs and taking a wicket.
In reply, Shaheen’s chase began on a shaky note as Khurram Shahzad struck twice in his first over, dismissing the dangerous Prashant Kurup for a golden duck.
But that was the only moment of joy for Sky Kings.
What followed was a breathtaking exhibition of clean hitting from the pair of Chandra Shekhar and Satish Yadav.
The duo put on a magnificent 135-run partnership for the second wicket, tearing apart the Sky Kings’ bowling attack.
Yadav was the aggressor initially, racing to a 40-ball 57, which included three fours and four massive sixes.
After Yadav’s dismissal, Shekhar fittingly finished the game, remaining unbeaten on a masterful 74 from just 51 balls.
His innings, decorated with seven fours and four sixes, was a testament to his timing and power.
Shaheen chased down the target with more than four overs to spare, highlighting the sheer dominance of their batting performance.
