The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Bahrain Chapter hosted its latest Dîner Amical at the Westin City Centre Bahrain, where members and guests enjoyed an imaginative ‘Guy Fawkes’-themed evening inspired by the spirit and nostalgia of the November 5 Bonfire Night annually celebrated in the UK.
Under the leadership of Bailli Délégué Betsy B Mathieson, the event brought together 50 members and guests for a night of culinary artistry, festive creativity and exceptional hospitality.
Miss Mathieson praised the Westin team for its outstanding effort in crafting a menu filled with delightful surprises, capturing the warmth and excitement of Bonfire Night through exquisitely presented dishes and innovative gastronomic interpretations.
“The Westin team demonstrated remarkable creativity and skill in delivering a truly memorable and thematic dining experience,” Miss Mathieson added. “Their dedication to excellence reflects the spirit of the Chaîne and showcases the finest of Bahrain’s hospitality.”
Guests enjoyed a dynamic atmosphere, elegant service and a menu that paid homage to the flavours, colours and storytelling of the famous British tradition, elevated with contemporary flair by the talented culinary team.

Guests dressed to impress
Every November in Britain on Guy Fawkes Day, revellers set off fireworks and remember the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when Guy Fawkes and fellow conspirators attempted to blow up Parliament. Sparkling themed dishes in Bahrain included Butternut and Avocado Tart, Glazed Black Cod as well as sizzling Black Angus Beef Short Ribs.
The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Bahrain Chapter is now looking forward to its next Dîner Amical, to be held on December 18. For the first time, the event will be hosted at the Residence of the French Ambassador, courtesy of Ambassador Eric Giraud-Telme and his wife, Amélie, promising a distinguished and culturally rich evening in celebration of French gastronomy.

Service with ambition
In 1248, under the reign of Saint Louis, the Guild of Rôtisseurs was born. Originally created to oversee the roasting of geese, the Guild gradually expanded its reach and, in 1610, was granted its current coat of arms by royal warrant.
For 160 years, the legacy of the Chaîne lay dormant, until 1950, when a group of passionate gastronomes and culinary professionals came together in post-war Paris.

Explosive tastes
They shared a common mission: to revive the pride and excellence of French gastronomy that had been diminished during the difficult wartime period. That same year, La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs was officially reinstated, with its historical seal and coat of arms restored by Act of the French Government.
Today, La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs stands as the world’s oldest and largest gastronomic association, with more than 25,000 members, including hoteliers, restaurateurs, executive chefs and sommeliers, taking part in its activities around the globe.
