FOOTBALL – AL Ma’ameer and Al Sehla North secured their places in the semi-finals of the 22nd Kingdom Golden Generation U-17 Youth Centres Championship, organised by the Empowerment Youth Centre in Sehla in cooperation with the Abu Quwah and Al Hoora and Gudaibiya Youth Centres.
Meanwhile, Karzakan, Sanabis, and Karrana all qualified for the quarter-finals and now await the final team to join them, which will be either Abu Quwah or Al Shakhoura.
The four teams in the last eight will compete for the two remaining spots in the semis, where they will join the already-qualified Ma’ameer and Sehla North.
Ma’ameer had secured qualification earlier, while Sehla North topped Group B with 10 points after a commanding 6-1 victory over Samaheej in their final group match.
Nizar Al Sharqi led the way with a hat-trick, while Qasim Al Aqaf, Hussain Hani, and Yousif Saeed added the remaining goals. Samaheej’s lone goal was scored by Hussain Mahmood.
Sanabis finished as Group B runners-up with nine points following a valuable 1–0 win over Karrana, thanks to a decisive strike by Ali Jamil in the 36th minute.
The last quarter-final berth will be decided today when Shakhoura faces Abu Quwah at 4.15pm. The winner will advance, while the loser will exit the competition. A draw would favor Abu Quwah due to goal-difference, as both teams currently sit on three points.
