HORSERACING – MALAKYE and Catherine Parr emerged victorious last night in the richest races of a nine-race card at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
In attendance during yesterday’s events were REHC High Committee honourary president Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, General Sports Authority deputy chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and other officials.
Malakye won the Bahrain Bourse Cup for Al Sadah Syndicate while Catherine Parr lifted the Capital Markets Cup. Both events offered BD3,000 in total prize money.
Malakye took the Bahrain Bourse Cup in race five for trainer Ahmed Al Sadah, with Marcialis Jaures in the saddle. Malakye took the 1,600m event ahead of King of the Throne, who finished second for Al Afoo Racing, Jaber Ramadhan, and Mirko Sanna. El Introvertido came third for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Fawzi Nass, and Stephane Ladjadj; and Illuminated was fourth for Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, Haider Ebrahim, and Benoit De La Sayette.
Catherine Parr won the Capital Markets Cup in race three, held over 1,400m, for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajeed, and Hasan Al Saffar. Hardtail followed for Fateel Brothers Syndicate, Adel Abdulla, and Ebrahim Nader; Athan was third for Gulf Racing Club, Fawzi Nass, and Ladjadj; and Carnegie Hall finished fourth for Afoo, Ramadhan, and Sanna.
In last night’s other races, Aajay won the BHB Closing Bell Cup, Yazaman won the Bahrain Bourse Apprentice Cup, Dick Dastardly won the Bahrain Bourse Excellence Cup, Asimov won the Bahrain Bourse Mile Cup, The Blue Lady won the Bahrain Bourse Sprint Cup, The Irishman won the BHB Opening Bell Cup, and Kuheilan Weld Umm Zorayr 1959 won the Bahrain Bourse Arabian Cup.
