CRICKET – Shaheen Group were crowned champions of the second annual cricket tournament organised by the Indian Community Welfare Association (ICRF Bahrain) in collaboration with the Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF).
The initiative is dedicated to promoting wellness and competitive spirit among the nation’s dedicated labour community.
This year’s edition saw an impressive turnout, with 16 company teams battling it out in a round-robin format, showcasing immense talent and passion for the game.
The official inauguration was done by ICRF advisor Dr Babu Ramachandran, who expressed ICRF’s continued commitment to engaging and supporting the worker community through meaningful initiatives.
In the final between Shaheen and Steel Force Mamba, Shaheen’s Atiullah Shah was the undeniable hero.
Deservedly named Player of the Final, Shah unleashed a fine display of power-hitting, smashing 36 runs off just 13 deliveries.
His innings, decorated with four sixes and a boundary, propelled his team to a competitive total of 63.
Despite a valiant effort, Steel Force found the target increasingly elusive against a disciplined Shaheen bowling attack.
They were eventually restricted to 41 runs, sealing a memorable victory for the champions.
Shaheen dominated the individual accolades, with Shekar Yadav recognised as the Best Batter for his unwavering performance throughout the competition, and Durgesh earning the Best Bowler award.
The Player of the Series award was given to Steel Force’s Renjith Jayakumar.
The other participating teams were Gulf Fencing, Royal Busaiteen, Special Metal, All Care, Astral Technologies WLL, GMS Food Stuff, Sign Zone, Almoayyed Coat, HSCC, Sher E Punjab, Top Choice II, Namco Blaste, Sole Tech, and Thai Mart Bahrain.
As a gesture of encouragement, the winning team was awarded a prize of $500, courtesy of P Haridas and Sons, while the runners-up received $250 from VM Brothers.
Other supporters include Bohra Community, Aseel Supermarket, and Siraj.
