FOOTBALL – Al Ma’ameer were crowned champions of the 22nd Kingdom Golden Generation Tournament for Youth Centres (U17), organised by Al Sehla Youth Empowerment Centre in co-operation with Abu Quwa Youth Centre and Al Hoora and Gudaibiya Youth Centre.
Ma’ameer clinched the title after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Al Sehla Al Shamaliya in the final, completing the tournament with a perfect record.
Ma’ameer’s Mohammed Adel won the award for the tournament’s Best Player following his standout performances throughout the competition, while Sehla’s Nizar Abdulmutalib earned the Top Scorer award with eight goals.
The Best Goalkeeper honour went to Ali Madan of Abu Quwa.
The tournament final delivered high drama, particularly in the second half.
After a goalless opening period, fans witnessed an intense and action-packed final 45 minutes.
Abdulmutalib gave Sehla the lead, but Ma’ameer responded with two goals through Nawaf Isa and Adel.
Abdulmutalib struck again to level the score, but then in the dying moments of the match, Abbas Mohammed delivered the decisive winning goal.
The event was held under the patronage of Ministry of Youth Affairs support and initiatives assistant undersecretary Nani Butti, who crowned the winners in the awarding ceremony.
