The Sustainability Forum Middle East (SFME) has secured BBK as a lead partner for its fourth edition, highlighting the bank’s commitment to advancing sustainable finance and supporting Bahrain’s energy transition.
The forum is scheduled for January 27-28, 2026, at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. It is held under the patronage of Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed Bin Daina and supported by the Supreme Council for Environment.
BBK’s partnership reflects its strategic focus on mobilising capital to drive Bahrain’s transition to a low-carbon economy, aligning with the kingdom’s 2060 net-zero target. The bank is actively embedding sustainability across its operations and client strategies.
Senior BBK leaders will join more than 400 regional business figures at the forum, themed: ‘Advancing Alignment, Innovation, and Implementation for Energy and Climate Transformation’. BBK will showcase its strategies for empowering clients through ESG-aligned solutions, including sustainable lending and transition finance.
BBK Group chief executive officer Yaser Alsharifi stressed the strategic imperative: “We view sustainability as a strategic imperative in delivering long-term value for our clients and the broader Bahraini economy.” He added that platforms like SFME are “essential to accelerating shared progress” across sectors.
Laila Danesh, managing director at FinMark Communications, the organiser, said BBK’s leadership will “significantly enrich the forum and contribute to actionable solutions” for the region.
She emphasised that the support “underscores the vital role of financial institutions in turning ambition into implementation.”
The two-day event will address urgent priorities, including aligning national and corporate strategies with net-zero ambitions, scaling innovative technologies, activating carbon markets, and building capacity. The programme concludes with a full day of hands-on workshops focused on building practical skills for large-scale action.
