Football – Al Riffa edged past Al Shabab 1-0 last night in the ninth round of the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League 2025-2026 at Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
International player Ali Haram led Riffa to an important victory after scoring the match’s sole goal with a well-placed header that found the net past Al Shabab goalkeeper Mahmoud Al Ajmi in the 59th minute. With this win, Riffa raised their tally to 18 points, temporarily drawing level with league leaders Al Malkiya and Al Khaldiya, pending the results of today’s and tomorrow’s matches.
Al Shabab’s points total remained stuck at five points at the bottom of the table. The match also marked the debut of coach Mohammed Al Maqla, who took over the team’s coaching duties from Falah Abbas to lead Al Shabab for the remainder of the current season.
