His Majesty King Hamad has expressed his admiration and appreciation for Muharraq and its people, praising their efforts in highlighting the city’s deep-rooted civilisation and rich heritage through the Muharraq Nights Festival.
The festival has achieved continued success since its inception, reflecting the dedication of its organisers and the collective co-operation and unity of all those involved, His Majesty noted.
He affirmed the historical significance of Muharraq, the authenticity of its people, their enduring contributions, and their well-established role in Bahrain’s historical journey across generations.
He expressed pride in the strong sense of belonging shown by all those involved in the event, including Bahraini citizens and visitors to the kingdom, who expressed their sentiments through their involvement. “This reflected Bahrain’s leadership in understanding life and its requirements, particularly in the cultural domain,” the King said, conveying his sincere thanks to the people of Muharraq and wishing them a prosperous life.
“A prosperous life requires preserving fundamental values and knowledge, with citizens forming the cornerstone of national responsibility by upholding their religion, traditions and authentic moral values.”
His Majesty said that his remarks stemmed from a paternal sense of responsibility towards both his immediate family and the broader national family.
He expressed his appreciation to the organisers of Muharraq Nights, particularly the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), chaired by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, for its commendable efforts in organising and hosting this cultural, tourism and entertainment festival.
He highlighted the authority’s role in showcasing Bahrain’s civilisational legacy and safeguarding its authentic national heritage through the festival’s wide range of activities, events and programmes, which reflected the status of the city of Muharraq, its people, its deep-rooted history, and its rich human and cultural heritage.
His Majesty also commended the Muharraq Governorate, headed by Governor Salman Bin Hindi, for its co-operation in ensuring the success of these national events. He also thanked all those who contributed to the festival, as well as all governorates that share the same national spirit in representing the kingdom. He expressed his appreciation to all media professionals, headed by Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi, for their coverage of the festival.
The King praised the notable success of the national events and programmes, as well as the large turnout of citizens, residents and visitors to the kingdom, which received widespread public acclaim.
As reported in the GDN, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attended Muharraq Nights Festival recently. He said Bahrain’s historical sites, heritage buildings and traditional markets represent key attractions that support the tourism sector.
They also strengthen its contribution to the country’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty, HRH Prince Salman said.
“The kingdom continues to invest in preserving and showcasing its cultural heritage through diverse events, while encouraging community engagement and private sector participation in the tourism sector,” he pointed out.
Muharraq Nights, held annually during the winter season, has become a flagship cultural event celebrating the island’s history, crafts, music and cuisine. Hosted across historic neighbourhoods and heritage houses, the festival attracts thousands of visitors and plays a key role in reviving traditional areas through creative, community-driven projects.
