A driver has been jailed for a year and another motorist for six months by the Lower Criminal Court for taking part in an unauthorised race on a public road.
The duo was also fined BD1,000 each for driving recklessly, endangering lives and property, and exceeding the legally prescribed maximum speed limit.
According to the details of the incident, the two drivers decided to race each other in Zallaq.
Following this, an investigation was launched by the Public Prosecution and it resulted in their arrests and the impoundment of their vehicles.
During questioning they admitted to the charges levelled against them.
