The high-profile gala evening will be held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain, bringing together senior government officials, corporate leaders, international cricket stakeholders, and members of the cricketing fraternity.
The event is being held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and it reflects Bahrain’s continued commitment to advancing sport as a pillar of national development and international engagement.
BCF advisory board chairman Mohammad Mansoor stated: “It is an absolute honour for Bahrain to welcome Angelo Mathews, a global ambassador of cricket, to this historic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy unveiling.
“His presence elevates the stature of the event and inspires more than 15,000 cricketers and fans across Bahrain, particularly our youth and grassroots players.”
Mansoor further expressed his deep gratitude to Shaikh Khalid for his visionary leadership and unwavering patronage of sports, noting that Bahrain’s inclusion in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour reflects growing international recognition of the kingdom’s role in cricket development worldwide.
The tour is a national celebration of cricket, fan-engagement, and sports diplomacy, positioning Bahrain as a vibrant hub for international sporting events and reinforcing cricket’s powerful reach among its 2.5 billion global followers.
Yesterday’s opening day’s programme was headlined by a Royal Sea Parade along the Manama seafront, during which the trophy was showcased on a boat en route to Water Garden City, where the trophy was welcomed by a large crowd of cricket enthusiasts.
The trophy was then taken to The Avenues Bahrain where fans were able to take photos and enjoy some other cricket-themed activities.
The tour continues today with fan-engagement events at Dana Mall and Al Najma Club, leading up to the trophy unveiling gala in the evening. Then, tomorrow, the trophy will be brought to iconic landmarks across the kingdom such as Tree of Life and Al Fateh Grand Mosque, as well as to a number of select schools.
