It is the age-old weekend dilemma: finding a destination that keeps the little ones occupied without leaving parents feeling like they’ve gone 10 rounds in a boxing ring. However, we may have just discovered the ultimate secret to a stress-free family day out.
Tucked away in Galali, Sama Bay is a breath of fresh air that proves you don’t have to sacrifice your sanity to keep the kids happy. From the moment we arrived, the sense of freedom was wonderful. In a world where we’re often hovering over our children, it was a joy to watch our daughter burn off some energy in such a safe, wide-open space, joining the ranks of youngsters happily scooting about in the sunshine.
The real showstopper, however, came from the skies.
Thanks to the bay’s unique location, aeroplanes glide remarkably low overhead on their final descent. It was a proper ‘stop and stare’ moment; our daughter was absolutely mesmerised by her own private air show, which provided a welcome distraction and a bit of much-needed peace for the grown-ups!
While we didn’t quite make it onto the sand this time, the views were nothing short of spectacular. The beach looked pristine, the water was crystal clear, and most reassuringly for any safety-conscious parent, there were plenty of lifeguards on duty. It’s that kind of professional touch that allows you to actually relax rather than spending the afternoon on high alert.
But let’s talk about the detail that truly won us over; the toilets. Any parent currently tackling the ‘joys’ of potty training knows that a dirty public toilet can turn a lovely day out into a total nightmare. It’s a small thing that makes a massive difference, turning what could have been a stressful ordeal into a total breeze. It is clear that the team here understands the practicalities of modern parenting, and for that alone, they deserve a gold star.
Perhaps the most surprising part of the whole experience was the price tag. In an era where a family afternoon out can easily break the bank, Sama Bay offers a deal that is almost too good to be true. There is a modest BD2 entry fee, but here is the clever bit: it is fully redeemable against food and drinks at the on-site outlets. Better still, children under 12 go absolutely free, with a generous allowance of five kids per paying adult.
It’s brilliant value for money that makes a premium seaside experience accessible for everyone. Whether you’re after a spot for the kids to run wild or a beautiful corner to enjoy the sea air, we cannot recommend this place enough.
We’ll certainly be back... and next time, the buckets and spades are coming with us!
