The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has concluded the winter edition of its flagship EVOLVE internship programme.
The initiative brought together 10 students from the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Programme (CPISP) for an intensive on-the-job training experience across multiple divisions within the bank.
NBB group chief human resources officer Hend Mahmood said: “Building on the success of our EVOLVE summer internship programme, we were pleased to extend this initiative into the winter season, broadening practical learning avenues for Bahrain’s students. This expansion reflected our commitment to investing in national talent, offering immersive experiences that bridge academic excellence with industry insight.
“Through EVOLVE, we aim to cultivate future leaders equipped with the skills, mindset and exposure needed to contribute meaningfully to the kingdom’s economic development,” she added.
The immersive 10-day programme was led by NBB’s Talent Development team and included a comprehensive schedule of learning and engagement. It began with a ‘Kick-off’ and ‘Orientation’ session introducing students to NBB’s strategic priorities, business functions and career development pathways. Students were then distributed across key divisions, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from NBB’s professionals.
Following the on-the-job training phase, participants took part in an ‘Innovation Sprint’, where they were split into two cross-functional teams to solve real-world challenges. The programme concluded with the ‘Pitch Day’, where students presented their ideas and proposed solutions to a panel of NBB executives.
The EVOLVE Winter initiative stands as a testament to the bank’s strategic focus on nurturing human capital and advancing Bahrain’s national development goals, it says. By connecting academic excellence with practical experience, NBB aims to continue to play an active role in shaping a more progressive financial services sector.
