Cricket – SCORES of fans from Bahrain’s cricket-loving community enjoyed yesterday the final day’s activities in the three-day DP World ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy tour.
The high-profile tour was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and it reflected Bahrain’s continued commitment to advancing sport as a pillar of national development and international engagement.
As part of yesterday’s programme, the T20 World Cup trophy was brought to iconic landmarks across the kingdom such as Tree of Life and Al Fateh Grand Mosque, while Bahrain’s young enthusiasts were treated to an up-close look at the trophy as it was brought to a number of select schools.
The tour, which kicked off on Friday, has attracted tens of thousands over its three days. The occasion was a national celebration of cricket, fan-engagement, and sports diplomacy, and it positioned Bahrain as a vibrant hub for international sporting events and reinforced cricket’s powerful reach amongst its 2.5 billion global followers.
Sri Lankan cricket legend Angelo Mathews took part in this year’s festivities, which followed a similar tour held in the kingdom in 2023 for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy.
