Bahrain Ship Repairing and Engineering Company (Basrec) has signed a strategic agreement with JAFCON for Productivity Improvement aimed at reducing non–value-added operational costs, enhancing performance quality, and improving overall operational effectiveness within Basrec.
The agreement reflects Basrec’s ongoing commitment to strengthening institutional performance, improving operational efficiency, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the organisation.
It also aims to leverage internationally recognised scientific methodologies and best management practices in productivity improvement through the exchange of expertise, the delivery of specialised training and consultancy programmes.
“The agreement represents an important strategic step in Basrec’s journey towards operational excellence,” said chief executive of human resources and corporate services and acting chief executive officer Narjis Almoosawi.
She emphasised that investing in human capital development and adopting advanced productivity improvement practices are key pillars for achieving sustainability and institutional excellence.
“The partnership with JAFCON will support the establishment of a more efficient and agile operating model at Basrec, strengthen internal capabilities, and enhance the company’s regional and international competitiveness within the ship repair and marine engineering sector,” Ms Almoosawi added.
Chief executive officer of JAFCON for Productivity Improvement Dr Akbar Jaffari noted that the agreement reflects a shared vision and mutual trust aimed at achieving a qualitative shift in organisational productivity.
“JAFCON will deploy its more than two decades of professional experience to design and implement internationally accredited, results-driven programmes focused on productivity measurement, performance management, and sustainable capability building,” he said.
Dr Jaffari further highlighted that the collaboration seeks to deliver measurable outcomes, reduce non-value-added costs, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and empower national talent to lead productivity initiatives from within the organisation.
