His Majesty King Hamad deputised his Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa to attend a reception held for the heads of Bahrain’s diplomatic missions abroad and senior officials of the Foreign Ministry, on the occasion of the kingdom’s Diplomatic Day, marked annually on January 14.
The event was attended by His Majesty’s representative humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Shaikh Hamad Palace in Gudaibiya.
Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani noted that Diplomatic Day was designated by royal directive in recognition of Bahraini diplomacy and its role in implementing the kingdom’s foreign policy, strengthening international co-operation, and safeguarding national interests and those of Bahraini citizens.
The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for His Majesty’s continued support and guidance to Bahraini diplomacy and diplomats, praising their efforts in serving the nation and contributing to national development and Bahrain’s international standing.
He also lauded the support provided by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which enables the Foreign Ministry to carry out its responsibilities effectively at the national and international levels.
Dr Al Zayani also highlighted His Majesty’s order designating the current year as the “Year of Isa Al Kabeer”, marking the legacy of the late Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, a central figure in the establishment of the modern Bahraini state and its institutional foundations.
He said the annual Diplomatic Day gathering reflects His Majesty’s appreciation of the diplomatic corps and their efforts in advancing Bahrain’s regional and international position. He noted that Bahrain’s diplomatic approach is grounded in the principles of peace, tolerance and coexistence, and is committed to dialogue, diplomatic solutions to conflicts, and international co-operation in line with the United Nations Charter and international law.
He expressed pride in Bahrain’s active international role, highlighting the kingdom’s current non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, and its commitment to contributing positively to global efforts aimed at achieving peace, security, development and prosperity. He also underscored Bahrain’s pride in chairing the current session of the GCC, and its aspiration to further strengthen Gulf integration, regional security and stability, and the values of tolerance and coexistence.
