SUPREME Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the selection of Bahrain as the Capital of Arab Sports Culture 2026.
Shaikh Khalid also congratulated His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He said the selection reflects the standing attained by Bahrain at the Arab and international levels, as well as the development of the sports sector through the support provided by the kingdom’s leadership, which has established sport as part of the national development framework.
He noted that the designation is the outcome of continued efforts by sports and youth institutions in the kingdom and reflects Bahrain’s approach to advancing sports culture and promoting sporting and humanitarian values.
Shaikh Khalid added that the selection entails a national responsibility to maintain co-ordinated efforts and to make effective use of the occasion in presenting Bahrain’s experience and strengthening its role in the regional sports and cultural landscape.
