A number of municipal properties in Isa Town have been vacated following the execution of final and binding court rulings.
The Southern Municipality confirmed in a statement yesterday that the sites previously occupied by Home Electronics and the Lebanese Trade Centre were cleared after all stages of litigation had concluded and the rulings became definitive.
The action, it said, came in response to reports circulating in local newspapers and on social media.
The municipality stressed that the process was carried out under the supervision of the relevant authorities.
It underscored its responsibility to safeguard public funds, noting that the occupants had failed to settle outstanding rents despite the issuance of final court judgements against them.
According to the statement, the municipality had reached more than one settlement agreement with the occupants over several years in an effort to resolve the issue amicably.
However, none of these agreements were honoured.
The Southern Municipality affirmed that all measures taken were within the framework of the law and implemented with full transparency, in a manner that serves the public interest.
