Kuwait is set to become the first Arab country to introduce a school subject specifically addressing drugs and their dangers to both individuals and society.
According to Mohammed Al Duaij, head of the committee drafting drug laws, the curriculum is designed to raise awareness of the risks associated with substance abuse. He noted that while teenagers may understand that drug use is wrong, they often lack a clear understanding of the legal and health consequences of their actions.
The subject will also cover other critical social issues, including violence, theft, bullying, cybercrime, as well as traffic and sexual offences.
