Several extremely rare cheetah mummies have been discovered in a cave in Arar, Saudi Arabia.
The remains of 54 cheetahs, including seven that mummified naturally, were found during a field survey of 134 caves in the north of the country. Initial research revealed that the oldest remains date back 4,800 years, while the most recent is only 127 years old. This indicates continuous habitation of the cave by the animals for millennia and proves that cheetahs existed naturally on the Arabian Peninsula until relatively recent times.
Finding naturally mummified remains is extremely rare, as it requires specific environmental conditions to prevent decay
