His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday issued Edict (5) of 2026 amending certain provisions of Edict (2) of 2015 regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Council, based on a proposal by the Labour Minister. The edict stipulates the following:
Article (I)
Articles (2) and (3) of Edict (2) of 2015 regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Council shall be replaced with the following texts:
Article (2)
The Council shall be formed under the chairmanship of the Labour Minister, with the membership of:
1. Assistant undersecretary for Labour Relations at the Labour Ministry as Vice Chairman.
2. Director of the Protection and Safety Directorate at the General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Interior Ministry.
3. Director of the Inspection and Licensing Directorate at the Oil and Environment Ministry.
4. Head of the General Medical Committees at the Health Ministry.
5. Director of the Performance and Employee Relations Directorate at the Civil Service Bureau.
6. Director of the Actuarial Studies and Risks Directorate at the General Organisation for Social Insurance.
7. Head of the Technical Committee at the Bahrain Society for Occupational Health and Safety.
8. Assistant secretary general for Occupational Safety, Health and Environment at the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions.
9. Vice president for Occupational Safety and Health at the Free Trade Union Federation of Bahrain.
10. Abdulwahab Yousif Al Hawaj.
11. Samra Abdulrahim Al Qassir.
The vice chairman shall assume all the duties and powers of the chairman in the event of his absence or the existence of an impediment.
Article (3)
The term of membership of the council shall be four years, renewable for similar periods.
Article (II)
Ministers and those concerned, each within their respective capacities, shall implement the provisions of this edict, which shall come into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
