Bahrain and the US have signed a statement of co-operation aimed at strengthening bilateral efforts to combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property.
The statement was signed at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Manama by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker.
It reflects the commitment of both nations to enhancing co-operation in the field of cultural heritage, countering the criminal misuse of the art and antiquities market, promoting responsible art market practices, and advancing cultural exchange.
The agreement builds on the principles outlined in the Manama Statement on Co-operation issued in October 2021, which emphasised the protection and preservation of cultural heritage.
