Bahrain has reaffirmed its unity, resilience and commitment to peace after what officials described as a ‘blatant Iranian assault’ targeting the Gulf.
The issue dominated yesterday’s Shura Council session, which was urgently scheduled to address the developments, as members delivered strong messages of solidarity and confidence in the kingdom’s security apparatus.
Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh called on citizens and residents to rally behind the leadership.
He expressed his wishes for safety and peace for all Bahrainis and those living in the kingdom, stressing that daily life continues uninterrupted.
“Bahrain continues to be a safe and vibrant place where life carries on uninterrupted,” he said. “Hopefully, by the time the next session takes place, Bahrain will have overcome this brutal assault.”
Members described the attacks as cowardly and unjustified, saying they violated principles of good neighbourliness that Gulf states have upheld for decades.
In remarks during the session, it was stressed that the Gulf ‘has always extended its hand in goodwill to all corners of the world’ and has never been anything but a supporter of peace and stability.
“These attacks represent a flagrant violation of state sovereignty and international law, and a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region,” members said.
They praised Bahrain’s leadership for dealing with the situation ‘with responsibility and composure’, ensuring national security while adhering to international norms.
Shura Council foreign affairs, defence and national security committee chairman Dr Ali Al Rumaihi commended the swift and decisive measures taken to confront the missile attacks. He highlighted the professionalism of the Bahrain Defence Force and the vigilance of the Interior Ministry.
“What the concerned bodies demonstrated reflects the professionalism and competence of the BDF and its brave men, as well as the constant alertness and preparedness of the Interior Ministry to deal with various challenges,” he added.
Dr Al Rumaihi noted that the rapid response and precise precautionary measures underscored the State’s top priority of safeguarding citizens, residents and visitors, while minimising damage to public and private property.
Council members also paid tribute to the unity among people, describing social cohesion as the first line of defence against attempts to spread fear or misinformation.
“The rallying of citizens and residents around their leadership, and their commitment to official instructions, reflects deep-rooted national awareness and a collective understanding of the sensitivity of this period,” it was said during the debate.
Speakers emphasised that Bahrain’s strength lies in its unity, institutions and shared destiny within the Gulf.
“We are not merely an alliance – we are identity, history and a shared future,” one member remarked, reflecting the tone of the session.
As the session concluded, members reiterated their confidence that the kingdom would overcome the current challenges, preserving its sovereignty and continuing its path as a land of peace and security for all who live on its soil.
