A virtual first aid workshop on controlling bleeding was recently conducted by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the preparedness of personnel, volunteers and members.
The session aimed to enhance awareness on how to respond safely and effectively to emergency situations, particularly in light of current regional circumstances.
Led by the head of the society’s First Aid Committee Fatima Abdulrahman, the workshop equipped participants with essential knowledge for managing bleeding cases, which require swift action to prevent life‑threatening complications. The training included an introduction to bleeding and its different types, along with an explanation of the effects of blood loss on the body and key warning signs that may indicate severe bleeding or the onset of shock.
Participants also learned practical techniques for controlling bleeding, including the correct use of dressings and tourniquets in emergency scenarios. In addition, the workshop covered the proper procedures for handling cases involving impaled objects and amputations, ensuring that attendees gained practical first aid skills applicable in real‑world situations.
