A Moroccan civilian contractor in the UAE Armed Forces has been killed in Bahrain and others injured, including Bahraini servicemen, following an Iranian attack targeting the kingdom, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) announced in a statement yesterday.
The General Command expressed its condolences following the ‘martyrdom of the Moroccan serviceman who lost his life’ while taking part in operations to counter Iranian missile and drone attacks.
The command extended its heartfelt sympathies to the UAE Armed Forces and to the family of the fallen serviceman.
The statement confirmed that a number of Bahraini and UAE personnel were also injured while carrying out their duties during the same incident.
It added that they were taken to receive medical treatment after sustaining ‘minor to moderate injuries.’ Many have since been discharged from the hospital after receiving care, and medics continue to monitor the remaining cases.
A formal statement read: “The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force announces with profound sorrow the death of one of the civilian contractors in the UAE Armed Forces, a Moroccan national, while on duty alongside Bahrain Defence Force personnel in defence of the kingdom against the ongoing treacherous Iranian missile and drone attacks that have targeted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s territory since February 28.
“The General Command extends its deepest condolences to the UAE Armed Forces and to the family of the deceased.
“The General Command also confirms that a number of its personnel, alongside those from the UAE armed forces, sustained injuries while repelling Iran’s treacherous aggression. All wounded were evacuated immediately and given the necessary medical attention. The General Command continues to monitor their recovery. The majority have since been discharged from the hospital, with most injuries assessed as minor to moderate.
“Bahrain Defence Force personnel remain fully operational and resolute at their posts, defending the kingdom’s airspace, territorial waters and land with unwavering resolve against all threats to national security and stability.”
The General Command also called upon all members of the public to source information from official channels and to refrain from sharing unverified reports.
