Cargo flow, turnaround times, and emissions performance have significantly improved at Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP) following the introduction of a new electric reach stacker.
The new equipment, designed to keep cargo moving without interruption, strengthens day-to-day reliability and supports more predictable vessel and truck flows for port customers in Bahrain.
By replacing a traditional diesel unit, the electric reach stacker avoids up to 12,060 kg of CO₂ emissions each month, translating to more than 144 metric tonnes annually. This contributes to lower supply chain emissions for customers while maintaining high operational performance.
Built to handle demanding operations while reducing delays, the new equipment introduces several key operational advancements:
- The reach stacker handles loads of up to 45 tonnes, ensuring consistent performance for heavy cargo.
- A 507 kWh battery supports 10 to 12 hours of continuous operation without charging, which helps avoid unplanned downtime.
- Dual-gun fast charging reaches 95 per cent in just 120 minutes, keeping the equipment available when it is needed most.
- Integrated 360-degree safety cameras improve visibility, supporting safer and smoother operations
- across the terminal.
- An ergonomic cabin enhances operator comfort, supporting steady performance even in Bahrain’s
