In response to social media posts circulating regarding the death of Mohammed Abdulmohsen Mohammed, aged 32, the Interior confirmed that the competent authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had been detained by the National Intelligence Agency on charges of espionage, specifically for providing information and intelligence to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps concerning critical national infrastructure, with the intent of facilitating hostile acts against the kingdom.
His detention was carried out pursuant to a lawfully issued arrest warrant.
The ministry further clarified that images circulating on social media which allegedly depict injuries sustained by the deceased are inaccurate and misleading, and have been deliberately disseminated to misinform public opinion.
The case has been referred to the Special Investigation Unit of the Public Prosecution, which has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the injuries and the cause of death.
