I would like to place on record my heartfelt appreciation and sincere gratitude to Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) for their outstanding initiative in arranging chartered flights from Bahrain to Kochi during this critical period.
So far, BKS has successfully organised eight chartered flights, providing timely support to a large number of Indians in need. This initiative has been particularly beneficial for those stranded due to expired visiting visas, students required to attend entrance examinations, and many others facing urgent travel requirements.
What makes this effort truly commendable is the humanitarian approach adopted by the samajam. Special consideration was given to low-income and financially struggling individuals through subsidised fares, and in several deserving cases, even free travel was arranged. Such noble actions reflect a deep sense of social responsibility and compassion.
The dedication of the volunteers has been remarkable. From the initial ticket booking process until passengers safely reached their destinations, volunteers extended continuous support and follow-up. Special care was taken for elderly passengers, the sick, and students traveling alone, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey.
This initiative clearly demonstrates that BKS is not just a social and cultural organisation, but a true pillar of support for the community during times of need. Under the leadership of President P V Radhakrishna Pillai and General Secretary Varghese Karakkal, along with the support of the other Executive Committee members, the samajam acted promptly and efficiently.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, BKS had similarly proven its capability and commitment to community service. Such consistent efforts make the entire community proud.
I once again extend my heartfelt congratulations and sincere thanks to all those who worked tirelessly for this noble cause, including the Executive Committee members and dedicated volunteers. The contribution of BKS is truly invaluable and deserves the highest appreciation.
