HANDBALL – Barbar strengthened their hold on a place in the Golden Square semi-finals of the 2025-26 Khalid Bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League last night.
Barbar outplayed Tubli 36-25 in a gameweek 19 clash at the Bahrain Handball Federation Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.
They held a slim 15-13 advantage at the break but took complete control of the contest in the second half, extending their lead en route to securing the all-important victory.
The result earned Barbar their 11th win after 18 tries as they improved to 40 points in fourth place on the table.
They are ranked only behind unbeaten defending champions Al Najma, Al Ahli, and Al Shabab – all of whom are already assured of a berth in the Golden Square.
Tubli suffered their 10th loss and went to 30 points.
The 19th round of league action concludes tonight with Bahrain Club taking on Samaheej at 5.30pm in a match-up between the league’s bottom two clubs, to be followed by Shabab battling Al Ettihad at 7.15pm.
The results of the remaining fixtures in the regular season will determine the last team to qualify for the last four, as well as the match-ups in the stage.
