The Noor Astronomical Society announced that skies over Saudi Arabia and the Arab world are set to witness the peak of the Lyrid meteor shower during the late hours of Wednesday night and Thursday dawn.
The society noted that this shower is one of the oldest astronomical phenomena, with historical records indicating it was first observed around 2,700 years ago, specifically in 687 BC, making it one of the oldest recorded meteor showers.
Society President Issa Al-Ghafili noted that observing this phenomenon requires no telescopes or advanced equipment, as it can be viewed with the naked eye from open locations away from light pollution sources, from midnight until dawn.
