Push to protect citizens from financial pressures backed
I think there’s a bit of misunderstanding here that’s worth clearing up.
Yes, expatriates face real challenges—especially with rent, job security, and not having access to certain benefits.
That’s valid and shouldn’t be dismissed.
At the same time, it’s not accurate to assume that Bahrainis don’t deal with housing costs.
Most Bahrainis live in apartments or houses that they’ve bought through long-term mortgages, often spending 20–30 years repaying them, sometimes at nearly double the original cost.
Others are still renting while waiting for housing support.
So when we talk about living expenses, especially accommodation, Bahrainis are very much part of that equation too.
