Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma inspected the launch of the first assessment tests for students applying to the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme in government schools.
Around 3,000 students from the first intermediate grade are participating in the assessments.
Dr Juma visited several testing centres, where he reviewed the distribution of students and the conduct of examinations, and met teaching and administrative staff and parents.
The minister described the launch of the first stage of assessments leading to enrolment in the IB programme in government schools as an important step for the education system in Bahrain.
He wished students success in the programme.
Students are competing for 400 seats allocated equally between boys and girls.
