Parliament is set to discuss the final report of the parliamentary inquiry committee on job vacancies listed in the Labour Ministry’s records, mechanisms for closing jobseeker files, and the suspension of unemployment benefits.
The report includes extensive oversight and legislative recommendations – 21 proposals and 27 conclusions – to sustain employment in the labour market.
The panel recommended that the Labour Ministry conduct an in-depth analytical study to address structural challenges hindering the filling of vacancies, after observing that more than 59,000 jobs remained unfilled out of total vacancies recorded between 2023 and 2025 – representing around 60 per cent of available opportunities.
It stressed the need to accurately classify the causes of job stagnation and develop targeted solutions.
The committee further called for the introduction of a ‘job turnover index’ to measure how effectively vacancies are converted into actual employment and track contract terminations or resignations within short periods after hiring.
