The numerous milestones achieved by the UN Industrial Development Organisation’s Investment and Technology Promotion Office (UNIDO-ITPO) in Bahrain since it was established 30 years ago were commemorated during a special ceremony recently.
UNIDO-ITPO Bahrain celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, in the presence of Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Investment honorary chairman Shaikh Ibrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
The celebration marked three decades of UNIDO-ITPO Bahrain’s contributions to supporting industrial development, enhancing investment, and strengthening international co-operation, in line with the kingdom’s economic vision.
The occasion also marked the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Bahraini Entrepreneurship Development and Investment Programme (EDIP), which is currently implemented in 56 countries worldwide to support entrepreneurship, develop small and medium-sized enterprises, and promote sustainable industrial growth.
The Bahraini model, over the past 25 years, has empowered thousands of projects worldwide by providing training, capacity building, and facilitating access to finance and markets, making it one of the leading global tools for supporting industrial entrepreneurship.
UNIDO-ITPO Bahrain head Dr Hashim Hussein noted that these achievements come under the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the continuous support and efforts led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
