Bahrain has always been a place of safety and consistently ranks high in the listings of the ‘world’s safest countries to live’.
However, over the past few days I have become increasingly aware of my own anxiety – and that of others around me – regarding Bahrain potentially being targeted again by Iranian aggression.
This anxiety has been compounded for many of us by reports that the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have intercepted drones in recent days.
I do not want to spend my time living in fear of what may or may not happen in the future, and so I would like to share with my fellow GDN readers some strategies I have been using to ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ in case they might be of help to others:
1. I have refrained from using social media and checking the news in my first hour of waking up in the morning and for two hours before I go to bed at night.
2. I make a list of activities I can do after work to keep my mind busy – any form of exercise; visiting friends; reading a novel or watching a movie etc.
3. Before I go to bed at night, I write a list of all the positive things for that day. This focuses my mind on good things, rather than going to bed with worrying thoughts.
Keep positive, folks.
