Kuwait has amended rules governing how long residents may remain outside the country, following a revision to the Foreigners’ Residency Law issued on Sunday.
Under the update, certain holders of residency visas may now remain abroad for more than six months. These include former Kuwaiti citizens granted residency, foreign children of Kuwaiti women, foreign spouses of Kuwaiti citizens, and qualifying investors and property owners.
Other foreign residents with valid permits may also obtain permission to remain abroad beyond six months, subject to conditions set by the General Department of Residency Affairs, provided their residency remains valid throughout their absence.
Under general Kuwaiti regulations, foreign residents may not stay outside the country for more than six months without losing their status.
